The weather outside is frightful but the Hummingbirds are having a blast!

Our first week back to school was a busy one! We dove right into our continent unit and we started talking about land, sea and water. The hummingbirds learned a couple new songs about the continents and we had a full week of specials! Since it was so cold this week we spent a lot of time in the classroom doing art projects, having dance parties and exploring the Montessori work.

Continent songs:
1) to the tune of Frère Jacques
Europe, Asia
 A-fri-ca
North America
South America
Then there is Antarctica
Don’t forget Australia
Seven continents! Seven continents!

We will be learning this next one next week...

2) (Sung to: Frere Jacque)   Note:  This lists the continents somewhat in order from north to south, with the equator being emphasized at the hips.

North America (Both hands on head)

Europe (right hand on shoulder)

Asia (left hand on shoulder)

Africa, Africa (both hands on hips, swirling motion)

South America (right hand on knee)

Au…stralia (left hand on knee)

Antarctica, Antarctica (touch toes)

Due to the lack of outside time, Ms. Mariya has been leading some super fun movement circles before lunch, they go on a different adventure every time and it gets them engaged and moving a bit.
